GEELONG JUMPERS GO TO NEW LENGTHS

Nick Hodgson Triple JumpNick Hodgson and his squad of Long and Triple Jumpers completed a highly successful Athletics season at recent Championships. Nick won his third Australian Masters Title in the Men’s 45-49 Triple Jump in Canberra at Easter breaking the Championship and Victorian Records. This added to his unbeaten record in Masters competition this season with Geelong, Victorian Country, Victorian Masters and Pan Pacific Masters Games Gold Medals in both Long and Triple Jumps. Nick reached new heights in 2012 being ranked 12th in the world in the Men’s 45-49 age group.

Nick also coaches a squad of up and coming junior jumpers who this season collectively jumped 32 personal bests, and won 25 Gold, 6 Silver and 4 Bronze medals at championship levels. At the recent Victorian Little Athletics Championships in Bendigo Nick’s jumpers won 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medals plus some new PBs and minor places delivered deserved rewards for consistent training.

Nick and his squad now go into off-season training and would be happy to have any other aspiring young athletes who would like to develop their jumping skills join the squad. And any more mature athletes who would like to get into shape for the upcoming Australian Masters Games which are to be held in Geelong in October are welcome to contact Nick to find about getting back into shape and receiving coaching.
